Rocket-Tested, Rocket-Approved

eps Pro lands at EAA AirVenture

eps america’s Arena Panels and eps Pro turf protection provided a sturdy, flexible solution for protecting the heavily trafficked display site of Blue Origin’s New Shepard rocket and accompanying crew capsule at the 65th annual EAA AirVenture July 24–30 in Oshkosh, WI.

Record-breaking crowds flooded Wittman Regional Aiport to attend the world’s largest gathering of aviation and aeronautics. From the U.S. Navy Blue Angels airshow to closing weekend’s warbird parade, history and future technology mingled in one sprawling airstrip.

Situated prominently on Boeing Plaza, Blue Origin drew a large crowd of curious spectators to the display site. Two cranes lifted Blue Origin onto a base of strand cast aluminum Arena Panels, which successfully supported the 23,000 lb. rocket for the weeklong event. Lightweight eps Pro turf protection was laid throughout the display site to protect the ground in the most trafficked areas surrounding the video monitors and crew capsule flight simulator.

eps Pro’s patented locking clip system allowed for flexibility when the display site needed to be quickly reconfigured for EAA’s 50th anniversary celebration of the Apollo Program, attended by 15 former Apollo Astronauts and Blue Origin spaceflight and Amazon.com founder, Jeff Bezos.

After seven days, eps Pro turf protection was removed from the display site for a press photoshoot and onsite crew remarked how well the integrity of the ground had been preserved. eps Pro is the first original product designed by eps america. Used in conjunction with Arena Panels, eps Pro provided a safe display site for AirVenture’s 590,000 spectators.
