The Festival of a Lifetime

eps supplies infrastructure support for Goldenvoice’s Desert Trip Music Festival

In October 2016, a new festival presented by Goldenvoice occupied the Indio Polo Fields, the home to Coachella and Stagecoach Music Festivals that took place this earlier this year in early June. Known to some as “Old-chella,” Desert Trip Music Festival was a once in a lifetime event in which six legendary acts took a single stage over the course of three nights and two consecutive weekends.

Those acts included The Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney, Roger Waters, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, and The Who. Working alongside production innovators such as Clair Global, Tait Towers, VER, and Brown United, eps america was proud to have supported this monumental production with infrastructure support services for the crew, patrons, and rockstars alike.

eps america deployed over 600 pieces of GIGS Barricade and special pieces which equals 1800 linear feet for the one and only stage. With the help of two supervisors onsite, eps was able to efficiently and effectively alter the barricade design as each headliner had their own security requirements. For instance, The Rolling Stones had a runway that jutted out into the crowd for the first night of the festival, but for day two and day three, it was no longer present, which required reconstructing the barricade around the stage. Additionally, eps supplied LD panels to assist in the construction of the site.

In an interview with The New York Times earlier in June 2016, Goldenvoice President Paul Tollett stated that the festival at that time had already grossed $160 million. This one-of-a-like experience offered more than just incredible music; the preferred grandstand seating and boxes were custom made with elevator lifts and dry-walled interiors, there was a line out of the door to the photography exhibit at all hours of the day, ticket-holders could enjoy views of the stage from the many video screens set up in all catering areas and strategically in the separate seating areas, and the culinary experience shed light on California’s rich agricultural and wine exports.

eps america was proud to have supplied the one-of-a-kind musical and cultural experience that Desert Trip created with infrastructure support services and looks forward to what a possible next year will bring.
